Read More... He was born and raised in San Francisco. He is a self-taught artist, receiving his training from his life experiences, his own studies of the great masters and more recent luminaries and his own determination and diligence. As a child, Leonard would roam the streets of San Francisco on his bicycle, spending hours in art museums, at the beach and in Golden Gate Park observing all that his eyes could absorb. He would then spend hours in his room drawing and painting, selling his first painting at age 16.
After high school, Leonard joined the United States Merchant Marine and travelled throughout Southeast Asia, the South Pacific and the Mediterranean. After five years at sea, he left the Merchant Service and dedicated his energy to his own personal study and creation of art. From 1970 until 1997 he has sold numerous works, and taught art in Monterey and the Naval Air Station in Alameda, California. He completed several commissioned paintings for the United States Navy. He worked on props for Warner Bros. Television and occasionally did storyboards and backdrops for commercial video and television.
